Somehow I managed to complete my mural in just a handful or two of hours, which is amazing – my schedule with shows and the food pantry is especially crammed this year, but I have a personal goal to make public art, so it’s wonderful to have a chance to participate.

2026:
2026’s mural was about some wonderful people – Scout’s Coffee Bar + Mercantile has made a huge difference in the town’s vibe, in just a few short years. Rascal Salvage Vintage (yes, they’re the focus of last year’s mural – what can I say, they are lovable people) is in there, for also making High Bridge far cooler than it’s been i the last 50 years or more. The Baba Yaga hut is a shout out to my friend Carrie’s store, Casa Bizarro, where you can find my stuff (if you’re fast, it generally sells out quickly). Carrie is one of my favorite humans on Earth.
And there’s a little tribute to a lovely woman, who was taken from us too soon. Michelle Buckner passed away a few months back, and I regret that I didn’t get to spend more time with her.
Last but not least, I decided last year to add birthday wishes to my nephews in my murals, so I did that again, and it’s getting to be a nice tradition.
I also made use of secondhand paints & using up my old stash, so I spent $0 on materials (HBGFA provides the primed wooden panel), which was a personal goal as well – just get by with what I already had, along with some donated paints. And it worked!
As a final note: I’ll be refinishing the Falkor mural once it’s taken down, as the fluorescent paints used faded out much too quickly.
